Intentional Living: Embracing Change in Our Society

Chapter 1 The Power of Intentionality
In today’s world, we have the chance to be deliberate about our impact on society. While the systems we have may be the best we've seen, we must aspire for them to improve.
This section highlights the importance of being intentional in our choices and actions within the current societal framework.
Section 1.1 The Marketplace of Solutions
In a capitalist environment, nearly everything can be bought and sold. Marketers often assert—rightly, in my view—that our purchases should ideally address specific challenges. I've observed that the closer a product or service aligns with a genuine solution, the simpler it is to market. Industries like finance and technology thrive, regardless of their price points, because they provide tangible solutions to clear issues. Conversely, the role of art in solving problems is often ambiguous, despite its everyday consumption, which leads to its frequent undervaluation.
Subsection 1.1.1 The Dilemma of Selling Solutions
Section 1.2 The Paradox of Problem-Solving
There’s a significant distinction between providing solutions and becoming the very issue we aim to address. Monopolies exemplify this conflict, but they are not the sole offenders. Our surroundings are filled with questionable services and practices. For instance, creating tech products designed for obsolescence is a troubling trend, just as is the criminal act of ransomware. Inflating university tuition to exorbitant levels for prestige serves no long-term benefit, and selling tiny properties for prices once reserved for grand estates signals a decline rather than growth.
Chapter 3 Progress and Our Nature
We have yet to discover a superior system compared to the imperfect one we currently inhabit, as it functions—albeit imperfectly. Authoritarian regimes are untenable, communism is flawed at its core, and anarchism poses significant risks. While buying and selling can lead to progress, it often occurs in a haphazard manner without intentionality. The potential for exploitation and environmental harm is alarmingly high.
The clear path forward seems to be continuous evolution. It aligns with our innate desire for improvement. I can’t help but wonder what advancements we could achieve if we were more intentional about shaping the society we wish to live in.
