Stylish Leather Cases for Your Apple Gear: A Comprehensive Review

Chapter 1: Introduction to Andar's Leather Goods
Recently, I received a selection of products from Andar for review. For those unfamiliar with the brand, Andar specializes in crafting a variety of leather accessories, including bags, wallets, and watch bands. Personally, I typically prefer my tech without any cases. The only protection I've used for my iPhone 12 Pro is a silicone case from Apple, which I often remove.
The Insightful Journey of Ditching My iPhone and Apple Watch
I recently had a revelation about my technology usage.
It’s hard to resist the allure of Apple's design and functionality. While cases are helpful for protection, they often feel like a disservice to the sleek aesthetics of Apple products. However, my perspective shifted dramatically after trying out Andar’s cases for the iPad Air, MacBook Air, and AirPods Pro.
The Unboxing Experience
If you follow my YouTube channel, you might know that I'm not particularly fond of unboxing videos. I understand their popularity, but they don’t excite me enough to film myself doing them. That said, I couldn't resist documenting my experience with the Andar products.
The packaging was delightful—each product arrived in a fabric pouch, elegantly wrapped in dark paper and sealed with the Andar emblem. It was a pleasure to unwrap. Just like Apple, Andar has created an engaging unboxing experience that adds value, especially when you're investing in higher-end products.
Chapter 2: Product Reviews
Section 2.1: The Mav iPad Case
Price: £71 — £75
The only case I've previously used with my iPad was the Magic Keyboard case for my 12.9" iPad Pro, while my iPad Air remained unprotected. The Mav is a folio-style case crafted from high-quality full-grain, oil-waxed leather that smells incredible.
Its construction is impeccable, with precisely positioned cut-outs for the speakers, charging port, volume controls, and Apple Pencil. While it adds some weight, it’s not cumbersome. Installing the iPad is straightforward, and once secured, it feels safe yet not cumbersome.
The Mav features magnets that attach to the iPad’s screen, allowing the cover to be folded into a triangle for two different viewing angles.
Section 2.2: The Helm MacBook Case
Price: £90 — £93
Historically, I've never used a case for any of my MacBooks, as I prefer to carry them in a bag. Initially, I thought the Helm would be the least appealing of the three products. However, after trying it out, I found it quite impressive.
Similar to the Mav, the Helm is made from full-grain leather, featuring a soft microfiber lining for added protection. While attaching it is slightly more complex due to its two-part design, the fit is excellent once secured.
A word of caution: this case is not meant to be frequently removed, as it can be challenging to detach. While the Helm does add some weight to the MacBook Air, it’s not excessive.
Section 2.3: The Capsule AirPods Case
Price: £23 — £26
I've generally avoided cases for my AirPods Pro due to their bulkiness. The Capsule is a thicker case made from high-quality leather, but surprisingly, it doesn’t feel bulky once attached. It also accommodates wireless charging and provides excellent protection.
One of my favorite features is how the Capsule elevates the AirPods case when you open the lid, enhancing usability and aesthetics.
Conclusion: Embracing Andar's Quality
In conclusion, Andar has successfully changed my mind about cases for both the iPad and AirPods Pro. While I remain skeptical about the need for a MacBook case, I recognize that it may suit many users. If you're on the lookout for premium leather protection for your Apple devices, Andar is definitely worth considering.
