The Three-Month Quest: My Path to $100,000 as a Part-Time Writer
Written on
Chapter 1: Reflecting on the Journey
It has been three months since I embarked on my quest to achieve the coveted $100,000 in the expansive online landscape. Throughout this time, I’ve come to a few key realizations:
- Time truly does fly.
- I have not accomplished even half of my intended goals.
- Monitoring my progress has been transformative.
Most importantly, perseverance is essential. I established my goal, pushed myself to rise to the challenge, and now it’s crucial to remain committed.
Chapter 2: The 100 Times Rule
I once encountered a profound piece of advice from a lifestyle coach (though I can’t recall where):
"Don’t start something unless you’re willing to do it at least 100 times."
I found this insight particularly resonant. It suggests that if you wish to pursue an endeavor—whether it’s writing, exercising (something I admittedly don’t do), or any other goal—you should be ready to commit to it repeatedly.
This concept makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? How many of us embark on a new journey, adhere to it for a week, and then say, “Oh, I’ll get back to it later,” only to find three months have passed with no action taken?
I can raise my hand in acknowledgment.
The irony is that we often still seek progress. But if we don’t see results after just one week, we give up.
But that’s not the case anymore; we’re determined to stick with it.
If you're not prepared to engage in an activity 100 times (which is a solid benchmark for seeing improvement), then perhaps it’s better not to start at all—let’s not squander our time and energy on future disappointment.
So, here’s the truth: I haven’t written as many articles as I had hoped. I haven't even come close to making that symbolic $1,000 on my part-time creator journey. I strayed from my initial plan more than I intended and have been overwhelmed with various projects. I haven’t applied to write for the new Human Adventure Publication, nor have my sales for my first eBook met my expectations.
Yet, let’s highlight the positives:
- I’ve discovered a vibrant community on Medium to engage with.
- I completed a course in neuromarketing and social marketing to better navigate this realm.
- I published my first eBook.
- And yes, I earned my first $100!
It’s all about taking those initial steps and persevering.
Like toddlers learning to walk, it’s a gradual process.
In light of this journey, here are three ways I can support you:
- Join me and participate at AxGM.
- Feel free to leave a comment with any questions; I’m here to help.
- Stay tuned for insights with each new post on Medium.
Take care,
Ax.
