Chapter 1: Personal Background in Business Management
My experiences in business management are quite varied and multifaceted.
As an individual with an ISTJ personality type, I engage in writing about business daily. I teach business management at an international school in China and also run my own online venture. Furthermore, I invest my family's finances across various asset classes. In addition, I am an avid collector of business and economics literature, boasting a collection of several hundred volumes in my personal library. While I may not identify as a businessman in the traditional sense, I embody the essence of business in many ways!
You can find more about my background in the AUTHOR section. It may be rare to encounter someone like me, but rest assured, I am familiar with many individuals who share similar experiences to yours.
On a personal note, I take pleasure in value investing, enjoying outdoor activities, sipping cold Coke, indulging in Burger King meals, and playing with my two young children: YangYang, my nearly four-year-old son, and AnAn, my two-month-old daughter.
Discussing Finances and Entrepreneurship
During my teenage years, I observed my father, an entrepreneur, as he built his business. I occasionally assisted him on weekends and during summer breaks, which allowed me to earn my first income. This experience taught me the value of hard work and provided an inside look at how the service industry operates.
Educational Background in Business
I earned my degrees in Beijing from one of the world's top 20 universities, holding a Bachelor's in Business Management and a Master's in Business Journalism, along with multiple postgraduate certificates in International Business Education.
A. Studying Business Management in College
After high school, I pursued business studies in college, earning a double Bachelor's degree (Honors) in Business Administration and Management. My coursework covered various business functions, including Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations, along with additional classes in Mathematics, Statistics, Politics, Ethics, Business Law, Philosophy, and Creative Writing.
B. Pursuing Business Journalism in Graduate School
In my early twenties, I attended graduate school for journalism, where I obtained my master's degree. You can read about my experiences studying business journalism at Tsinghua University in this article.
Participating in Business Workshops
Throughout my six years at various universities, I had the opportunity to attend numerous workshops, seminars, and conferences on business management, organized by leading multinational companies such as General Electric (GE), Procter & Gamble (P&G), and the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company.
Teaching Business as a Career
For over 15 years, I have resided in China with my family of four, where I teach business management and related subjects at an international school. I collaborate with individuals from diverse cultures as a full-time employee.
Working as a Business Management Examiner
In addition to my teaching role, I also serve as a business management examiner for a contracting firm.
Editor-in-Chief of Business Media
Alongside my theoretical business education, I possess practical experience running my successful online venture as the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Super Business Manager (SBM). Through this platform, I provide business resources and write for a global audience while teaching business management at an international school.
This small yet rapidly growing project aims to make business education accessible worldwide. My articles on business education and management have been published in both international and local media, including China Daily and Warsaw Business Journal.
Personal Wealth Management
For the past 15 years, I have managed my family's finances as a private wealth manager, achieving an annual growth rate of approximately 20%. My investment experience includes purchasing shares of publicly traded companies in the US, investing in residential properties, and acquiring various banking products.
Collecting Business Literature
As a personal interest, I collect business and economics books to build a home library. My passion for these subjects has led me to curate a collection of several hundred titles.
I resonate with Jay Z's quote: "I am not a businessman; I am a business, man." He refers to himself as the owner of a clothing line, bar, and sports brands. I use this quote to encapsulate my diverse involvement in business—encompassing education, journalism, research, and online business development.
While you may not know many individuals like me, I assure you that I am well-acquainted with many people who share your experiences.
