Navigating the Shift as a Web3 Writer: A New Direction
Written on
Chapter 1: The Current Landscape
In today's environment, it feels like we are waiting for an upgrade that will bring us back to productivity. The fervor surrounding cryptocurrencies and NFTs has significantly diminished, and with it, the marketing budgets have dwindled, leaving many writers, myself included, in a tough spot.
This paragraph will result in an indented block of text, typically used for quoting other text.
Section 1.1: The Dilemma
The challenge I’m facing stems from having worked extensively with numerous anonymous projects. While the financial rewards were appealing, I find myself lacking in terms of references and endorsements. This trend towards pseudonymity has truly transformed the landscape of ghostwriting.
Despite this, I’ve gained invaluable insights into freelance writing and the blockchain technology that underpins it. My journey into the Web3 world began as a research endeavor for a personal writing project focused on the dark web. I believe that writing has led me into this intricate realm and will ultimately be my way out.
Section 1.2: Making a Choice
Given the current situation, I see four potential paths:
- Fast food employment
- Claiming expertise in AI overnight
- Identifying as a "Web3 Writer" while engaging in superficial discourse
- Pivoting my approach
I have opted for the fourth choice: to pivot.
Chapter 2: Expanding Horizons
In my heart, I’m a perpetual learner. My curiosity about decentralization, cryptography, and digital identities has driven me deeper than mere trends like memecoins. I’m genuinely engaged with the technology behind these innovations.
I recognize that cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and NFTs are just components of a larger technological landscape. The developments occurring in this space are truly captivating. It would be unwise to discard the knowledge and connections I’ve cultivated over these past few years. Instead, I’m broadening my scope, confident that my blockchain expertise will be beneficial as I venture into realms like quantum computing, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence. These technologies demand a degree of decentralization and transparency.
Rather than stressing over the challenges facing Web3 marketing, I’m filled with enthusiasm and gratitude. As a writer, I have the privilege of exploring and writing about topics that ignite my interest.
Onward and Upward
Looking ahead, I plan to refresh my content approach. I’ve been accepted into new Medium publications, and I eagerly anticipate returning to article writing. In a sense, I’m back to my roots: blogging, but now with a unique perspective.
My initial Web3 pieces not only advanced my learning but also attracted several clients. Over time, I enhanced my writing, expanded my audience, and secured higher-quality opportunities. As I return to blogging armed with testimonials, a portfolio, and a newsletter, I view this transition as a positive upward spiral rather than a repetitive cycle. While there are familiar patterns, each iteration allows for a higher starting point.
But I’m interested in your stories:
- Have you ever felt compelled to shift your niche or content strategy?
- What challenges did you face in making that decision, and was it ultimately worth it?
Thank you for reading!
